A walked to remember: Journey to MSU

Journey to MSU

Mindanao State University was not my option in pursuing my college degree.  My parents don’t want it, because of the rumours that MSU, Marawi City was unsafe. But I don’t have a choice since MSU-Marawi city was the university that my parents can afford so I take the risk. Way back May 10 2010 in the evening; that was the time when I departed off to MSU- Marawi city. It was about fourteen hours to reach Marawi city from our place. I bear to travel by myself despite of the fear that I felt. When I reached Cacayan City, I’d got a call from my Maranao batchmate telling that it’s not safe to travel going to Marawi city since it was the day after the election. I was advised by her parents to stay in Cacayan for a mean time, they told me that they would fetch me to spend the day in their house. Few days passed I decided to go at MSU and luckily I arrived in MSU safe and sound.
May 16 2014 the day when I take the CET exam. I’d waited for couple of days for the result and a week after, the result was announced and thank God I did it! I passed. I was one of that Baccalaureate passer. Glory is to God!!!
Start for a new life a new struggle and a new challenge, I as an official college student in this university I knew that it would not be easy to take degree courses, so I started to apply some courses offered like Hotel and Restaurant Management, Tourism Management, I take the entrance exam of that said courses and yes I passed but I decided not to pursuit it due to the costly expenses but instead I find Business Administration course which is BS Management but unfortunately  there is no slot for another batch so I went to other departments and coincidentally I saw my childhood friend and I asked a helped for her, without a second thought she recommended the same course Entrepreneurial Marketing she took.
The journey begun when the class day started. New acquaintances has found, new roommates new friends, new environment all was new and fresh. And I become more familiar with the culture and I started to adapt their ways and dialect that the place had. Part of the journey is to meet terror instructor one of this is my Psych 20 instructor, she was so strict. One thing I cannot forget when the time during our class, one of our classmate collapsed because of her rude words. As several meetings had passed I am used to endure the fear that I felt.  But fortunately I passed the subject, she was one of the big challenges that I experienced.
One of the activities that I have in my minor subjects was the variety show which I play a part as one of our candidate for the pageant. I was placed as first runner up.

"Seminar on E-commerce and Internet Marketing: Essentials and Strategies"

Last September 17 2014 was the second seminar on Internet Marketing course, it was held at the Academic complex, Mindanao State University. The seminar is all about the E- commerce and Internet Marketing: Essentials and strategies. In this event we are much privileged having four resource speakers sharing information and their experiences about E- commerce.

Prof. Archie Lemuel Clark Velasco was the first speaker that was tasked to talk about “Doing E- business in ASEAN Community” from his discussion he taught us on how to start a business through the internet, he taught us about online shopping and its features; first online shopping must have searchable catalogue it contains the picture of the products its features and also its prices, online shopping must secure check out, also Customer support page for the asking assistance and lastly FAQS.

The second speaker was a graduate of BSBA Entrepreneurial Marketing In MSU, main campus. Mr. Monju Khan., he discussed about “E- commerce on the GO: Its Practice and Application”. Next speaker is Ms. Charmaine Xy-Za O Yape, she talked about Web advertising through Social Media Marketing. Social Media Marketing means People having conversations about the value of products and services online to gain profit.

Ms. Lovette Jam P. Jacosalem was the last speaker of the said seminar she tackled with us about the careers in digital media, Ms. Jam shared her experience having an online job I was really amazed with her skills and abilities that she said. Through E- Commerce lots of opportunities is available, you can be a graphic designer, social media manager, blogger, freelancer and many more.

Having known their experiences and stories of life from the speakers realizes me of how lucky I am enrolled in this course. The registration of this said seminar can’t reimburse the worth of and the knowledge that I got. It’s a great experience!

"Go Green  keep  Clean"

Last August 13, 2014 the BSBA Entrepreneurial Marketing celebrates the Green Marketing Wednesday. the student in Marketing 111 have an advocacy to Reuse! Reduce! Recycle plastic wares.

The most essential way to reduce waste is to avoid creating it in the first place. We've all heard the word, "Reduce, reuse and recycle." You may wonder what it means or how to incorporate these principles into your daily life. It's not as complicated as you may think --- the "three Rs" all complement each other and together create a system.

The advocacy try to give students an awareness on what is happening to our environment. Students must know what they've been doing wither it could harm mother earth or could save it. As an individual we need to keep our environment clean and green by reducing reusing and recycling any materials that others think its useless.

As an Entrepreneurial Marketing student we need to think ahead and must take the lead!

Sa Jollibee Bida ang Saya

Who would have expected that a giant cartoon bee character could become one of the sponsors for the JEMA days 2014 Celebration? We are much privileged having a great sponsors, one of this is Jollibee. On the first day of the Marketing Days July 31, 2014, it was amazing having Jollibee joined the parade with marketing students and the faculty. It was the first time that the marketing department taps some sponsors on the said event.

Starting from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, Jollibee and Twirly had so much fun in the parade especially when the children in the street tried to tap them and some people takes pictures.

As the parade reached in the end point where in the Macarambon Hall, Jollibee and Twirly are well-welcomed. As the program was started, they both danced as their intermission number. The marketing students and the faculty had so much fun watching Jollibee and Twirly dancing and at the same time taking pictures and videos. On the said event, Jollibee enterprise sponsored a certain pieces of burgers and packed meals which were only sufficient to consume by the faculty, guests, judges, and even the JEMA officers.

 MSU Musical Extravaganza 2014 present

The 53rd Intramurals Celebration of Mindanao State University, Musical Extravaganza was sponsored by the College of Business Administration and Accountancy. On the 29th day of August 2014, and it was held in ILS gym. Fortunately it was headed by the Marketing Department, the BSBA students and also the staffs hand in hand working together for the hall where it would be held. The other colleges were amazed for the reason that it was the first time that the Musical Extravaganza was hosted by the College of Business Administration and Accountancy and have lots of sponsors. Who would then expect that the following sponsors are Jollibee in Iligan, Tita Fannies in Iligan, Board Walk, MS Events and Red Ribbon, and Jecos in MSU? It was really amazing!

The event covered the whole day competition in different category. In the morning series of presentation was done. Prof. Richard Celeste facilitates the opening salvo of that event, luckily I’m one of the participant of that event in the song interpretative dance which is entitled “heal the world. The opening salvo presents advocacy which is the three R’s Reduce, Reuse, recycle. Creating something out of those we thought its useless but have its value such as those decor, pencil case, coin purses and other more, and it is made up of plastic bottles.

Before the battle begun, the audience were so amazed by the presence of the Jollibee mascot all of them screams and enjoy the dance presentation of Jollibee together with sir Peepo. Until the time came for the most awaited event which was the battle of talent in Vocal Solo English and Instrumental. It was also the first time that the musical extravaganza has its category for musical solo really amazing!!In the afternoon on the said day were the Vocal Solo Tagalog, Vocal Duet, Acapella and Impersonation. The performance of the participants from the different colleges was so great. The countless of people cannot resist themselves to shout because of the talented individual. Even the students from every college had their own cheering yells. One thing that surprised the crowd inside the gym was the battle of vocal solo between the representative faculties in every college. It was a shocking surprised since then the students didn’t expect that kind of competition.

Luckily the College of Business Administration and Accountancy won as the overall champion for the Musical Extravaganza. Long live!!! Business administration.

A good life is a collection of happy moments...
Last July 31 2014 was the celebration of the Marketing Department,College Of Business Administration and Accountancy. Each batch year prepared props for the parade practiced a dance number a solo and vocal duet and others. The time has come for all of our preparation must be presented.  Actually we were so lucky having several sponsors and those sponsors were not just an ordinary sponsors those were JECOs, Boardwalk, Tita Fannies, Greenwhich , Red Ribbon and Jolibee  in Iligan city. As for my five years in the department it was first time we experienced having several sponsors in the celebration.

During the parade all of us were so excited and cannot wait for the Jolibee mascot to be seen, we were just like the little children waiting for that elegant mascot. Jolibee and Twirly joined our parade. This were the First year, the price Team together with the Jolibee Mascot.

And those didn’t end there; through our opening program Jolibee and Twirly have their special presentation. Twirly and Jolibee dance which make everyone scream like those children who have not seen mascot dancing. Jolibee and Twirly  joined  also by Sir Peepo to the move…

Second day : was the MISS &Mr. JEMA 2014 in Macarambon hall, we went at the venue at 9:00 am we waited for a several time just when the program started and indeed we were supporting our representatives together with my batch mates. Unfortunately the fourth year representatives both Mr. and Miss JEMA got the 1st runner up, at first I cannot accept it that we did not win the competition, but all we need to do is to accept the truth, no hurt feelings. At the end I am so impressed with our representative Miss Chana Rina Agustines I am so proud of her.

Third day:The most awaited day, the acquaintance party I think everyone was preparing for their customs some rented a gown, some are just borrowed to their friends all of us were beautiful with  our theme "Dazzling Beautiful Creatures".
